The Yukon proudly hosts three annual bridge tournaments — join us in March, September, and December for great cards and great company!
Bruce Beaton Better Bridge Tournament (The 4B Tournament)
The Bruce Beaton Better Bridge Tournament – also known as the 4B Tournament – is structured to encourage beginner, novice, and tentative bridge players to come out and enjoy the game in a fun, supportive environment. It is held annually at the end of March.
Over the years, Bruce taught formal bridge lessons to over 100 students and was always ready to offer an informal tip to any player. A regular at our Tuesday night games, Bruce was known for his welcoming spirit and generous teaching. We lost Bruce in 2023, and this tournament honours his lasting impact on the Whitehorse Duplicate Bridge Club.
The 4B Tournament is considered a Local Sectional, directed by a local director with support from an ACBL Director. Masterpoints awarded are lower than those at a Unit Sectional.
Tournament Dates
- March 21–22, 2025: 28 players joined Friday evening, 46 on Saturday afternoon, and 36 Saturday night. We welcomed several first-time tournament players, a visitor from Southern Alberta, and two guests from Haines, Alaska. The evening meal was themed an “Early Spring Yukon Picnic,” featuring homemade soups, desserts, and sandwich fixings – all thoroughly enjoyed by 42 hungry bridge players.
- March 27–28, 2026: More information will be available later this year.

The WDBC hosted its first Unit Sectional in 2024. This tournament included an on-site ACBL Director, and awarded Silver Masterpoints. Sectionals are held over three days and typically include a Swiss Pairs session.

- August 22–24, 2024: Our first Unit Sectional included 16 pairs Thursday evening, 10 Friday morning, and 14 for Swiss Pairs in the afternoon and evening. Saturday sessions saw 19 players in the afternoon and 17 in the evening. We welcomed guests from Homer, Haines, Juneau (Alaska), and Edmonton.

Whitehorse Christmas Tournament
This is our longest-running tournament, dating back to at least 1996. Many players make time to attend this festive event despite the busyness of December. It is considered a Local Sectional with support from an ACBL Director. Masterpoints awarded are lower than Unit Sectional points.
Tournament Dates
- December 5–7, 2025: More information coming soon.
- December 6–8, 2024: Likely our 26th Annual Christmas Tournament. We held four sessions of bridge, with 14 pairs on Friday night, 17 for Saturday sessions, and 14 again on Sunday. Friends from Haines, Alaska were among our guests.
The Saturday night turkey dinner was a highlight, followed by a traditional Sunday morning continental breakfast.
